About the role#
Commence is looking for a Business Development Intern to support our federal growth team. This temporary, learning-focused role provides hands-on experience with federal contracting, capture support, and business development operations. You will work directly with our Business Development Analyst and growth leadership to identify and track opportunities that align with our strategic goals.
What you'll do#
- Research and track federal contracting opportunities using government intelligence sources.
- Maintain and update opportunity records in our Salesforce CRM pipeline.
- Monitor agency procurement forecasts, budget justifications, and RFI notices.
- Compile competitive intelligence on agency priorities and potential partners.
- Prepare briefing materials, opportunity summaries, and status reports for leadership.
- Assist with proposal development tasks, including formatting documents and updating past-performance write-ups.
- Organize and maintain our opportunity tracking database and content repository.
- Take notes during meetings and follow up on action items.
- Complete research projects to build your knowledge of the federal procurement lifecycle.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a bachelor’s degree in Business, Political Science, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
- A genuine interest in federal contracting, government healthcare programs, or business development.
- Strong research, writing, and organizational skills.
- Close attention to detail.
- Comfort learning new software platforms and databases.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple short-term tasks and meet deadlines.
Location & details#
- This is a fully remote, paid internship position.
- The role is temporary and follows a rolling schedule.
- You will work in a climate-controlled environment, primarily sitting and working on a computer for extended periods.
- Occasional travel to client sites, partner meetings, or industry conferences may be required.
