About the role#
This is a 12-week internship based on-site at our pulp and paper mill in Augusta, Georgia. You will work directly with department managers and engineers to address environmental, regulatory, and production challenges. This role involves hands-on work in a manufacturing environment that requires the use of personal protective equipment.
What you'll do#
- Partner with engineers to learn the papermaking cycle from raw materials to distribution.
- Identify operational efficiencies and suggest improvement projects.
- Collaborate with plant staff and departmental leaders.
- Take ownership of safety assignments including machine guarding assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, and lockout procedure verification.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering program (including Environmental, Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering) or Business Administration.
- A minimum 3.0 overall GPA.
- Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in an industrial environment that includes noise, dust, moving equipment, and variable temperatures.
