About the role#
Clean Harbors is hiring a Lab Chemist Intern for the Summer 2027 program at our Deer Park Incinerator. This is a full-time, on-site role where you will work alongside experienced professionals to gain hands-on experience in environmental services. You will participate in safety briefings, observe operational processes, and support real projects that contribute to our business goals. The program runs from May 2027 through August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Prioritize health and safety by following all policies and OSHA regulations.
- Shadow supervisors and technicians to learn laboratory operations.
- Perform analysis of various metals, including mercury.
- Conduct wet chemistry testing, such as Chlorine and Fluoride analysis.
- Use analytical instruments including GC, IC, and ICP.
- Manage waste generated during analytical procedures.
- Review, update, and validate data and documentation for accuracy.
- Assist with additional tasks as assigned by management.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in chemistry, biology, or a relevant field.
- Previous experience working in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to document, record, and analyze data accurately.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar technical tools.
- Knowledge of wastewater, TOC, and ICP instrumentation is helpful.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and stand for long periods.
- Ability to work well within a professional team environment.
