About the role#
Clean Harbors is seeking a Lab Chemist Intern for our facility in Dugway, Utah. This full-time position runs during the summer of 2027. You will work on-site alongside experienced professionals to gain hands-on experience in environmental services. The program starts on May 17th or May 24th and concludes in August.
What you'll do#
- Prioritize health and safety by following all workplace policies and OSHA regulations.
- Shadow supervisors and technicians to learn laboratory operations.
- Analyze various metals, including mercury.
- Conduct wet chemistry testing, such as Chlorine and Fluoride analysis.
- Use analytical instruments including GC, IC, and ICP.
- Manage waste generated during analytical procedures.
- Document, review, and validate data to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with additional tasks as assigned by management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for biology, chemistry, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and stand for long periods.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other technical tools.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of wastewater, TOC, and ICP instrumentation is helpful, as is experience with flashpoint or Calorimetry.
- Ability to work well within a professional team.
