About the role#
The Welding Engineering Intern supports our manufacturing and engineering teams. You will work on the development, evaluation, and improvement of welding processes and fabrication methods. This role offers hands-on experience with manufacturing operations, quality standards, and continuous improvement projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers to learn about welding technologies, materials, and industry codes.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and engineering teams on troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Assist with welding process development, testing, and production improvement projects.
- Prepare welding procedures, technical reports, and engineering documentation.
- Conduct weld inspections, testing, and documentation.
- Collect and analyze production and quality data to find process improvements.
- Support compliance with welding standards like ASME and NAVSEA.
- Research welding techniques, equipment, and industry best practices.
- Investigate weld quality and process optimization.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Welding, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering.
- Must be entering your Sophomore or Junior year.
- Hands-on experience with GTAW and GMAW welding processes.
- Basic knowledge of welding processes, metallurgy, and manufacturing principles.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software.
- AutoCAD and Inventor experience with solid modeling and 3D design is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
