About the role#
This is a year-round internship based in Saukville, Wisconsin. You will gain hands-on experience analyzing the microstructure and mechanical properties of steel. You will learn how manufacturing processes influence material performance and assist with technical service evaluations.
What you'll do#
- Operate and maintain TS lab metallographic equipment, including macro and microscopes.
- Use automated analysis software, Rockwell, and Microhardness testing.
- Document professional quality images for Technical Service Reports.
- Summarize findings for the TS Lab Group using email and Microsoft Teams.
- Lead the evaluation of Hercules and Niagara Lasalle accumulations claims.
- Identify manufacturing defects related to casting, hot rolling, processing, and forming of steel components.
- Gain knowledge of steel microstructures and the effects of manufacturing on raw steel.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Current status of at least a Sophomore level.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Location: Saukville, Wisconsin.
- Modality: On-site.
- Duration: Year-round, starting January 2027.
- Schedule: Part-time (15-20 hours per week) during the academic year and full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer.
- Compensation: This is a paid position. Sponsorship is not available.
