About the role#
As a Process Engineer Intern at Charter Steel, you will gain hands-on experience supporting our manufacturing operations. You will work within our draw departments to improve production efficiency and product quality. This role involves partnering with cross-functional teams to solve real-world engineering challenges and drive operational excellence.
What you'll do#
- Support manufacturing operations through root cause analysis, data collection, and statistical analysis.
- Assist in the implementation of standards and Lean continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform time studies and work directly with operators to improve processes.
- Identify root causes of production issues.
- Conduct process analysis and optimization.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a four-year degree program in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Current status of at least a Sophomore standing.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and succeed in a team environment.
- Basic Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma skills.
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Location & details#
- Location: Saukville, Wisconsin.
- Schedule: This is a year-round position. It requires 15 to 20 hours per week during the academic year and 40 hours per week during the summer of 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: This is a paid internship. Please note that internship positions are not benefits-eligible.
