The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Peel Dufferin is seeking a Communications & Social Media student to support the Corporate Services team. This student placement is designed for individuals looking to complete academic requirements while contributing to mental health awareness and anti-stigma initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the development and execution of marketing strategies and campaign content.
- Manage social media channels by scheduling posts and engaging with the community.
- Draft and edit newsletters, blog posts, website updates, and promotional materials.
- Support the promotion and coordination of community events, fundraisers, and campaigns.
- Monitor media coverage, draft media releases, and assist with media inquiries.
- Maintain the communications calendar and track campaign metrics.
- Ensure all communications align with organizational brand guidelines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or completion of post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience in marketing or communications.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, content management systems, and graphic design tools.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and intersectional frameworks.
- Ability to travel within Peel Region and Dufferin County.
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check).
- Fluency in a second language or ASL is considered an asset.

- Modality: Hybrid (requires on-site and community presence based on program needs).
