About the role#
The Canadian Mental Health Association Peel Dufferin is seeking a student for a Communications and Social Media placement within the Corporate Services department. This role supports the organization in increasing mental health awareness and reducing stigma through modern media practices. This is an unpaid student placement beginning in Fall 2026.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the development and execution of marketing strategies, including the creation of digital and print content.
- Manage social media channels by scheduling, monitoring, and engaging with audiences.
- Draft and edit newsletters, blog posts, website updates, and promotional materials.
- Support the promotion and coordination of community events, campaigns, and fundraisers.
- Monitor media coverage, draft media releases, and assist with media inquiries.
- Maintain brand consistency across all communication platforms and provide administrative support for tracking campaign metrics.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or completion of post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in marketing or communications.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, content management systems, and graphic design tools.
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to operating from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, and intersectional framework.
- Ability to travel within Peel Region and Dufferin County.
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening report.
- Fluency in a second language or American Sign Language is considered an asset.
