The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Peel Dufferin is seeking a student for an unpaid placement in Events Management for the Fall 2026 term. This role involves supporting the organization's fundraising initiatives and mental health awareness efforts. The position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week for a duration of 4 to 6 months, starting in September 2026.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of events, including managing agendas, site preparation, catering, registration, and marketing materials.
- Coordinate on-site logistics, including vendor communication, space booking, and safety planning.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks during event execution.
- Support the annual United Way Greater Toronto campaign and other fundraising activities, including grant reporting and tracking.
- Design and implement stewardship and recognition strategies for donors.
- Assist with fund development initiatives, including writing and submitting grant proposals and program reports.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a university or college program pursuing Events Management or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in full-scope event planning, including large-scale events.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Ability to travel within Peel Region and Dufferin County.
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check).
- Experience with non-profits, fundraising, or donor relations is considered an asset.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Brampton, Ontario, at the Hurontario St. office.
- The role operates under a hybrid work model, with requirements for on-site and community presence based on program needs.
- This is an unpaid student placement.
