About the role#
Canada Life is looking for a DevOps Engineer student to join our team for the Winter 2027 term. You will work within an agile squad alongside developers and technology professionals to support the systems and processes that deliver customer-focused solutions. This role provides exposure to DevOps practices, automation, cloud technologies, and continuous delivery while you contribute to digital strategy projects.
What you'll do#
- Support the monitoring, maintenance, and improvement of systems, services, and tools for software delivery.
- Assist in deploying new capabilities while learning DevOps principles and best practices.
- Participate in agile squad activities, including the development and automation of tools and processes.
- Contribute to CI/CD initiatives to enable reliable software deployments.
- Help build new solutions and migrate existing capabilities to modern platforms.
- Automate current processes and interfaces while contributing to operational standards.
- Collaborate with developers and operations teams to support system reliability and performance.
- Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge-sharing activities.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends.
- Gain exposure to technology disciplines such as infrastructure, software development, and quality assurance.
What you'll need#
- Currently in your second-year or higher, pursuing a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- Must be a student registered in a Canadian College or University.
- Must be returning to school after the work term or requiring a placement for graduation.
- Strong academic achievement and a passion for technology.
- Innovative problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Collaborative team player who can also work independently.
- Enthusiasm for learning new technologies.
