About the role#
The Enterprise Architecture team shapes how Wawanesa uses technology. We are looking for an AI Developer co-op to join us for the Winter 2027 term. You will work directly with our architects on real projects, focusing on building internal tools and testing new AI frameworks.
What you'll do#
- Build internal tools and AI agents for the architecture team.
- Create proof-of-concepts to test new AI tools and frameworks.
- Help maintain our Technology Radar to track and categorize technologies.
- Write documentation and share your findings with the team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related program.
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs or AI agents.
- Familiarity with agent frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, Semantic Kernel, or MCP.
- Programming experience in Python.
- Understanding of prompting, tool calling, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to ask questions.
Additional assets include experience building web apps or user interfaces, exposure to cloud platforms (AWS or Azure), familiarity with AI services like Amazon Bedrock or Azure AI Foundry, experience with Git or GitHub, and a portfolio showing your AI work.

- Modality: Hybrid work (requires 2 days per week or 15 hours per week in the office).
- Locations: Winnipeg (MB), North York (ON), Kitchener (ON), or Ottawa (ON).
- Status: Paid, full-time position.
