About the role#
The Poly Post staff produces and promotes the student-run newspaper and magazine at Cal Poly Pomona. You will work across various functions including editorial content, multimedia storytelling, marketing, and audience engagement. This role offers hands-on experience in a collaborative environment.
What you'll do#
- Plan editorial content and manage production deadlines.
- Write, edit, and curate stories covering news, sports, arts, and culture.
- Create and manage content for the web, social media, video, audio, and photography.
- Develop layouts, graphics, and promotional visuals for print and digital formats.
- Promote the publication, organize events, and engage with sponsors.
What you'll need#
- Demonstrated ability in writing, editing, or design. A portfolio or writing samples are recommended.
- Proficiency in tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or WordPress.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Availability to attend meetings, cover events, and contribute weekly content.
- Familiarity with AP Style for editorial roles.
- Enrollment in or pursuit of a major in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Journalism, English, or Media Studies is preferred.
