About the role#
Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is hiring tutors for the Maximizing Engineering Potential (MEP) and Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) program. This role provides academic support to students in the College of Engineering, focusing on foundational mathematics, physics, and science courses. Depending on your expertise, you may also support upper-division core courses.
What you'll do#
- Conduct tutoring and supplemental instruction sessions for participants.
- Prepare worksheets and solutions for each workshop.
- Monitor student attendance and performance throughout the term.
- Complete necessary data reports and documentation.
- Attend all mandatory training sessions and meetings.
- Work with the Academic Retention Coordinator to support student success.
What you'll need#
- Current Cal Poly Pomona undergraduate student pursuing a STEM degree.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA in both Cal Poly Pomona and overall coursework.
- Enrollment in at least 6.0 units for undergraduates or 4.0 units for graduates.
- Working knowledge of the courses you intend to tutor.
- Prior experience facilitating group tutoring services.
- Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and majors.
