About the role#
Writing Center Peer Tutors support Ellsworth Community College students with their writing assignments and speeches. You will work in the ECC Library to help students develop their ideas and improve their writing skills. This is a paid, on-site position for the Fall 2026 semester.
What you'll do#
- Guide students in understanding concepts related to writing and speeches.
- Help students with grammar, punctuation, proofreading, formatting, and organization.
- Facilitate discussions to guide students through the writing process instead of just providing answers.
- Refer students who identify a specific need regarding a disability to the learning services specialist.
- Maintain accurate records of sessions using Paycor and approve your timecards by the deadline.
- Communicate suggestions about the program or any difficulties to the director of student success.
What you'll need#
- You must be a current Ellsworth Community College student.
- You need a high school diploma or equivalent.
- You must have successfully completed the course you are tutoring with a grade of B or higher.
- You must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- You should be comfortable interacting with all students respectfully and maintaining student privacy.
