About the role#
MEP-WiSE is hiring tutors to support students in the College of Engineering. You will work in the Engineering Learning Center to help incoming STEM students with foundational math, physics, and science courses. Depending on your background, you may also support upper-division core courses. This role is part of the Maximizing Engineering Potential and Women in Science and Engineering programs.
What you'll do#
- Conduct tutoring and supplemental instruction for participants.
- Prepare worksheets and solutions for each workshop session.
- Monitor participant attendance and performance, providing follow-up as needed.
- Attend all mandatory training sessions and meetings.
- Complete data and summary reports plus other documentation.
- Work with the Academic Retention Coordinator to advocate for participants.
What you'll need#
- Current Cal Poly Pomona undergraduate pursuing a STEM degree.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Currently enrolled for at least 6.0 units.
- Working knowledge of the courses you plan to tutor.
- Experience facilitating group tutoring services.
- Experience working with students from different majors, cultures, and backgrounds.
