About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineer Intern, you will support our engineering team in meeting site goals for safety, quality, and productivity. You will work on individual part processes and conduct investigations to reduce inefficiencies. This role requires sustained mental effort in planning and technical areas.
What you'll do#
- Complete tasks for multiple projects under the direction of engineering leadership.
- Assist with the design, build, test, installation, and operation of automated manufacturing systems.
- Design and detail items using 2-D or 3-D CAD software.
- Write and edit robotic or PLC programs.
- Identify and remove safety and quality risks.
- Use time studies to validate setup and run times.
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives and product flow improvements.
- Evaluate historical data on run rates to check for accuracy.
- Assist in the creation and evaluation of cost reductions.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, Automation, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering program.
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with CAD, specifically Solid Works, is beneficial.
- Prior manufacturing experience, particularly in fabrication and welding, is a plus.
