About the role#
Bound is hiring an Accounting Intern to join our finance team for a full-time, hands-on experience. You will rotate across core accounting and finance functions, gaining exposure to the operations that keep our startup running. You will work directly with our finance and accounting staff to build practical experience.
What you'll do#
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processing, including invoice review and vendor or customer correspondence.
- Support monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
- Help prepare for and support month-end and quarter-end close processes.
- Assist with financial reporting and data compilation for internal stakeholders.
- Help identify opportunities to improve processes and documentation.
- Own a capstone project from start to finish.
- Participate in the team's day-to-day work.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles like debits, credits, and GAAP fundamentals.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented approach with strong organizational skills.
- Comfort working with numbers and maintaining accuracy under deadlines.
- Proactive attitude and a willingness to ask questions.
- Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks or NetSuite is a plus.

- Location: Ames, Iowa.
- Work Modality: This position supports on-site, remote, and hybrid work. This specific role includes hybrid flexibility in our Ames office.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 17 - August 6, 2027).
- Status: This is a paid, full-time internship.
