About the role#
This is a 12-month position beginning in January 2027. You will work on product design and manufacturability during concept and commercialization phases. You will also participate in continuous improvement initiatives as we scale up existing manufacturing processes. This is a full-time, paid role.
What you'll do#
- Support the development and optimization of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Generate ideas and draft 3D prototypes using SolidWorks.
- Build and test prototype devices to ensure they meet requirements.
- Coordinate testing and provide input to the team.
- Assist engineers with the development of validation and test plans, as well as process characterization.
- Lead LEAN initiatives to improve manufacturing processes.
- Prepare technical documentation, including drawings, work instructions, and training materials.
- Design test methods or follow standard protocols to ensure devices meet patient needs.
- Monitor safety practices to ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and FDA standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project timelines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a bachelor degree program in mechanical, biomedical, or mechatronics engineering.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of LEAN or Six Sigma principles.
- Experience with Minitab and working in highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- A strong interest in biomedical technology.
- A hands-on approach and the ability to work independently or with a diverse group of engineers and clinicians.
- Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (requires at least three to four days per week in the office).
