About the role#
As a Process Development Engineering Intern, you will bridge the gap between research and development and manufacturing. You will help create the processes, technologies, and systems needed to build medical devices. This role involves working across various business areas, such as Electrophysiology, Cardiac Rhythm Management, and Urology. You will gain hands-on experience by applying engineering and material science principles to support the full product development lifecycle.
What you'll do#
- Connect Research and Development to manufacturing by developing robust processes and systems.
- Create new manufacturing processes and test systems that scale to high-volume production while reducing variation and improving product quality.
- Apply chemistry, materials, and engineering fundamentals to process development, material selection, and characterization.
- Partner with technology leaders and cross-functional teams to implement new capabilities.
- Ensure all work conforms to global process development procedures and quality requirements.
- Manage the content of Process Plans, including material usage and the sequencing of manufacturing tasks.
- Develop and maintain Manufacturing Instructions to support material and process implementation.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Material Science/Engineering.
- Graduation date between Fall 2027 and Spring 2029.
- Ability to commit to a 12-week internship during one of these windows: May 17, 2027 to August 6, 2027, or May 24, 2027 to August 13, 2027.
- Legal eligibility to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
- Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and organizational skills.
- Experience or interest in working hands-on with a technical team.
- Proficiency in basic data analysis and statistical tools like Minitab, JMP, or Excel.
- A collaborative mindset and clear, direct communication style.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship.
- The role follows a hybrid work model, requiring presence in the local office at least four days per week.
- You must have reliable transportation to and from our Arden Hills and Maple Grove, Minnesota locations.
- This position is considered safety-sensitive and requires a prohibited substance test.
