About the role#
The Engineering Services Co-op role supports the Model Shop by working with shop machinery, equipment, and CAD software. This position offers hands-on experience in the development of concepts, prototypes, fixtures, and production equipment. You will work under the guidance of shop personnel and management to gain experience in engineering, manufacturing, assembly techniques, and quality assurance.
What you'll do#
- Build simple prototypes, fixtures, gages, and equipment.
- Assist in the design, fabrication, and assembly of working prototypes and fixtures.
- Manipulate basic to moderate CAD files with multiple parts and assemblies.
- Solve problems of basic to moderate scope and complexity.
- Identify assembly process or equipment improvements.
- Document all work in compliance with company quality system requirements and policies.
- Support engineering activities and other company functions as assigned.
What you'll need#
- High School diploma.
- Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical, or a related engineering field.
- Desire to start a career in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.
- Experience with MasterCam for design and programming.
- Proficiency with AutoDesk Inventor for design and schematics.
- Practical machining experience, including manual and CNC KneeMill and Lathe.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, and regularly walk, sit, or stand.
