    About the role#

    As an intern in the Active Implantable Systems (AIS) R&D department, you will support the design and development of technologies that monitor, diagnose, and treat cardiac conditions like heart failure and irregular heart rhythms. This role focuses on the continuum of care, from initial diagnosis to long-term treatment. You will work on-site in Arden Hills, Minnesota, for a 12-week term during the summer of 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Contribute to the development and design of implantable medical devices.
    • Use CAD tools and mechanical design principles to build components.
    • Conduct hands-on prototyping and testing to validate device performance and reliability.
    • Perform statistical data analysis and apply design of experiments (DOE) to optimize outcomes.
    • Use tools including MATLAB, Minitab, and LabVIEW for modeling, data acquisition, and system evaluation.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure device safety and clinical relevance.

    What you'll need#

    • Working towards a Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering with a graduation date by December 2027.
    • Previous internship experience within the Boston Scientific AIS R&D department.
    • Ability to start the internship on either May 17th or May 24th, 2027.
    • Reliable transportation to and from the work site.

    • Location: Arden Hills, Minnesota.
    • Work Modality: On-site, five days per week.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Status: Full-time, paid internship.
    • Note: This position is designated as safety-sensitive and requires a prohibited substance test. Sponsorship for employment visas is not available for this role.
