About the role#
As an Applied AI Intern, you will work with our defense mission team to explore new approaches in optimization, modeling, probability, and algorithmic development. You will translate academic theory into mission solutions by working with real-world data sets and operational challenges. This role involves building tools, applications, and pipelines that integrate machine learning into operational workflows. You will collaborate with data scientists, AI engineers, and mission experts to evaluate AI performance and ensure systems are mission-ready.
What you'll do#
- Explore new approaches in optimization, modeling, probability, and algorithmic development.
- Collaborate with data scientists, AI engineers, and mission experts to apply mathematical methods to data-driven problems.
- Build tools, applications, and pipelines that integrate machine learning into real-world operational workflows.
- Contribute to algorithm design, model validation, analytic experimentation, and explainability analysis.
What you'll need#
- Experience with programming languages or frameworks including Python, Java, C++, Go, or JavaScript.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies, version control, and collaborative development workflows.
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- Scheduled to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a STEM field by Spring or Summer 2027.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
