About the role#
Bolton & Menk is hiring a Transportation Planning Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Minneapolis, Eden Prairie, or Plymouth, Minnesota.
What you'll do#
You will support project teams on services including transportation planning, bicycle and pedestrian planning, and securing competitive project funding. Your work involves conducting land use analysis, performing research, and preparing environmental documents. You will apply transportation planning methods at both local and regional levels, utilizing design standards for multimodal and active transportation in urban and rural settings. Additional duties include researching growth and development statistics, writing technical reports, and drafting policy documents. You will also assist with agency and stakeholder involvement, project communications, and public engagement facilitation.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in urban planning, public policy, geography, public administration, or a related field.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Personal transportation or the ability to use public transit.
- Current authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.
Location & details#
This internship is located in Minneapolis, Eden Prairie, and Plymouth, Minnesota. Please note that relocation and housing assistance are not provided for this position.
