About the role#
Bolton & Menk is hiring a Survey Field Intern for the 2027 summer season in Ames, Iowa. You will work alongside an experienced crew chief on real-world projects, applying classroom knowledge to professional land surveying tasks.
What you'll do#
- Assist with boundary, topographic, and ALTA surveys.
- Perform construction staking.
- Collect GPS data.
- Gain hands-on experience with Trimble, Robotic Total Station, and GPS equipment.
- Interact with staff, landowners, contractors, and subcontractors.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Civil Engineering Technician, Land Surveying, or related degree program.
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8.
- Ability to work outside for extended periods and navigate rugged terrain.
- Valid driver's license, own transportation, and insurability under firm rates.
- Coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD drafting is preferred.
