About the role#
The Software Engineering Artificial Intelligence Intern role is part of the Graduate Researcher Program (GRP) for Summer 2027. This 10-12 week program connects PhD students with Boeing research and development teams. You will work on real-world industry challenges, participate in innovation challenges, and engage with mentors and leadership. Please note that work performed during this internship cannot be used for your PhD thesis.
What you'll do#
- Develop and implement technologies for aerospace applications.
- Prepare data for, develop, and evaluate learned models.
- Transition and integrate new capabilities into Boeing end-product deployments.
- Collaborate with distributed teams to improve the performance and quality of aerospace solutions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Must have completed the first year of PhD studies by July 2027.
- Ability to work full-time for 10-12 weeks during Summer 2027.
- Experience preparing, developing, and evaluating learned models.
- Proficiency in programming languages and tools such as Python, Matlab, C++, C, Java, SQL, Teradata, Tableau, Gephi, or Airflow.
- Experience with Machine Learning development and deployment pipelines.
- Familiarity with Agile methodology and repositories like ADO, JIRA, and Git.
- A Master of Science in Computer Science, Data Science, or a similar field is preferred.
- At least 1 year of relevant experience, including previous jobs, internships, or assistantships.
- Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements (U.S. Person status required).
