About the role#
This is a part-time student position focused on law enforcement, campus patrol, and emergency response. You will work under general supervision to ensure the safety and security of university property.
What you'll do#
- Conduct uniformed patrols of campus properties on foot or by vehicle.
- Respond to emergency calls involving law enforcement, fire, or medical issues.
- Enforce campus driving and parking regulations and manage traffic control.
- Interview complainants and suspects, conduct investigations, and write reports.
- Handle incoming telephone calls and emails while dispatching information to appropriate units.
- Operate and maintain emergency equipment, including fire suppression and communication tools.
- Train new employees and provide instruction on safety procedures.
- Work assigned shifts that cover days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Bob Jones University.
- Minimum age of 18 and US citizenship.
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least one semester of prior experience in public safety traffic or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of law enforcement principles, fire procedures, and first response.
- Familiarity with relevant federal, state, and local laws.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel, plus web-based programs.
- Good communication skills.
- Three references are required for your application.
- A valid US driver license with a good driving record is preferred.
- Ability to obtain SLED certification, along with potential training in CPR, First Aid, and OC spray.
