About the role#
The BJA Elementary Late Stay Assistant role involves supervising elementary age children during after school hours. This position is open to Bob Jones University students who want to work with children and have a positive impact on them. This is a part-time, on-site role with a rolling term.
What you'll do#
- Supervise elementary age children and learn their names.
- Lead group activities and give devotionals.
- Enforce behavioral expectations and maintain a consistent presence.
- Keep accurate records of attendance and clock children in and out using the timekeeping system.
- Lead grade level restroom breaks and organize indoor or outdoor group games.
- Manage the car line by verifying parent car tags and calling for students over the radio.
- Monitor waiting cars and address needs as they arise.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Bob Jones University.
- Minimum age of 18 with a completed high school diploma.
- A Christ like testimony and integrity.
- A genuine love for students and a desire to learn and improve.
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain outside for long periods.
- Physical endurance to work in a rambunctious environment.
- Experience working with students aged 6 to 12 is helpful but not required.
- Experience in a pressured environment where attention to detail is important.
- Sensitivity to the differences between the BJU academic calendar and BJA work responsibilities.
