About the role#
This is a 12-month co-op placement with the Alpha Research Team. You will build the data pipelines and research technology that support security forecasting, portfolio analytics, and investment decision-making. Working alongside quantitative researchers and portfolio managers, you will contribute to systems that deploy capital while gaining hands-on experience in an institutional investment environment.
What you'll do#
- Build and enhance tools, libraries, and frameworks for factor modeling, machine learning workflows, and security forecasting.
- Support pipelines that ingest, validate, and transform financial datasets while ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Develop dashboards, APIs, and analytical utilities to improve research workflows.
- Translate models and forecasting signals into reliable, well-documented code.
- Assist with the deployment, automation, and monitoring of quantitative solutions in cloud or on-premises environments.
- Participate in software engineering practices including code reviews, testing, and version control.
- Collaborate with investment and technology professionals to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in computer science, software engineering, mathematics, financial engineering, data science, or statistics.
- Must have completed your third year of studies before the start date.
- Working proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience working with structured or unstructured datasets.
- Understanding of data validation, transformation, and analysis.
- Familiarity with object-oriented programming, modular design, and version control.
- Strong analytical skills and a willingness to work through open-ended technical problems.
- Ability to communicate clearly, receive feedback, and contribute to a team.
- Interest in quantitative finance, investment management, and the application of technology to research.
