About the role#
As a Commercial Banking Credit Analyst Intern, you will develop financial analysis and credit assessment skills while working with experienced Commercial Bankers. You will contribute to projects, assess risk, and learn how BMO partners with businesses to fuel growth. This is a full-time, four-month internship running from May 3, 2027, to August 13, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Analyze credit information to support lending decisions and processes for new and existing loans.
- Perform financial analysis and calculations to provide recommendations.
- Prepare detailed credit summaries to assess creditworthiness.
- Support portfolio monitoring, compliance, and performance tracking.
- Assess industry trends to identify risks and opportunities.
- Provide content and support for proposals and presentations.
- Build and maintain client relationships in collaboration with Relationship Managers.
- Structure and support new, renewal, and extension loans.
- Conduct financial analysis and risk assessments of client information.
- Serve as a point of contact for service requests and identify cross-selling opportunities.
- Manage timely and accurate data entry into bank systems.
- Complete complex tasks and handle escalations.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate degree program with a graduation date of Spring 2028.
- A preferred minimum GPA of 3.2/4.0.
- A preferred minimum of two undergraduate finance and accounting classes or equivalent experience.
- Relevant experience in credit, lending instruments, or financial operations is an asset.
- Proficiency in financial analysis, loan structuring, and data analysis tools.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- A self-motivated, detail-oriented, and team-focused approach.
- A strong work ethic and a passion for commercial banking.
