About the role#
As a Commercial Banking Credit Analyst Intern, you will develop financial analysis and credit assessment skills while working alongside experienced Commercial Bankers. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, sharpen your ability to assess risk, and gain insight into how BMO partners with businesses to fuel growth. You will gain exposure to commercial banking, expand your personal network, and contribute to the bank's operations.
What you'll do#
- Analyze credit information to support lending decisions and processes.
- Perform financial analysis and calculations to support recommendations.
- Prepare detailed credit summaries to assess creditworthiness.
- Support portfolio monitoring and compliance by analyzing metrics and industry trends to identify risks and opportunities.
- Structure and support new, renewal, and extension loans.
- Build and maintain client relationships in collaboration with Relationship Managers.
- Provide content and support for proposals and presentations to capture new business.
- Monitor portfolio performance for assigned clients and take corrective action when required.
- Identify revenue, cross-selling, and share of wallet opportunities.
- Serve as a point of contact for service requests and manage data entry into bank systems.
- Minimize risk exposure by adhering to credit policies and regulatory standards.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate degree program with a graduation date of Spring 2028.
- A preferred minimum GPA of 3.2/4.0.
- A preferred minimum of two undergraduate finance and accounting classes.
- Strong analytical skills, critical thinking abilities, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- A self-motivated work ethic and a desire to work as a team player.
- Relevant experience in credit, lending instruments, or financial operations is an asset.
- A genuine passion for Commercial Banking.
