About the role#
The Project Development Co-op supports solar and battery energy storage projects in Massachusetts. You will work with the project development team to manage permitting, utility interconnection, and site control activities. This role involves direct interaction with landowners, contractors, engineers, and local government officials. You will spend your time on project pipeline support and technical research, including creating presentations for community meetings and managing project documentation.
What you'll do#
- Support the development of solar and energy storage projects in Massachusetts.
- Represent BlueWave in meetings with engineers, contractors, landowners, and permitting authorities.
- Use GIS tools, Salesforce, and document control systems to track and report on project progress.
- Monitor project milestones and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare internal and external documents and presentations.
- Provide quantitative analysis to support development decisions.
- Assist with land-use negotiations and attend local government board meetings.
- Support site design, financial modeling, and early project diligence.
- Work with the Grid Integration team to manage utility interconnection processes.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy Systems, Urban Planning, Business, or a related field.
- Previous co-op or work experience in a related discipline is preferred.
- Proficiency in Excel and strong quantitative skills.
- Technical knowledge or exposure to Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems.
- Understanding of electrical components used in energy projects.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal formats.
- Experience working in collaborative environments with tight deadlines.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time Co-op position running from January 2027 through June 2027.
- The role is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
- This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days per week in the office.
