About the role#
The Project Development Co-op supports the team with permitting and development tasks for solar and battery energy storage projects. You will focus on creating community meeting presentations, reviewing utility interconnection applications, and managing communication with landowners. This role involves researching technical and policy topics to support project pipelines in New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois.
What you'll do#
- Assist with early project diligence including site design, GIS review, and permitting research.
- Produce internal documentation like Work Orders and ACE forms.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, landowners, and permitting authorities.
- Track project progress using internal tools and Salesforce.
- Monitor milestones and regulatory requirements for active projects.
- Prepare materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide quantitative data to support project development decisions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy Systems, Urban Planning, Business, or a related field.
- Prior co-op or work experience in a related discipline.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Excel and strong analytical abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- General understanding of electrical components for solar and storage projects.
- Technical knowledge of Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Systems is preferred.
- Experience interacting with public officials or boards is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time Co-op position for the Winter 2027 term (January through June).
- The role is based in Boston, Massachusetts.
- This is a hybrid position requiring at least three days per week in the office.
