About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience with healthcare financial data, claims management, and reimbursement methodologies. You will work with reimbursement specialists to analyze claims data, create reports, and identify trends affecting financial performance. This role is a full-time position during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Analyze healthcare claims, focusing on utilization, service types, denials, and reimbursement trends.
- Use SQL to source claims data.
- Use Microsoft Excel to organize, validate, analyze, and summarize large healthcare datasets.
- Support reporting and dashboard development to identify reimbursement savings opportunities and process inefficiencies.
- Analyze reimbursement for commercial, Affordable Care Act, and Medicare claims.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders on claims and reimbursement projects.
- Document findings and assist in presenting recommendations to stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve patient access to care.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Healthcare Administration, Business Analytics, Finance, Information Systems, Public Health, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis.
- Familiarity with SQL or a willingness to learn.
- A strong interest in healthcare finance, reimbursement, contracting, revenue cycle, or healthcare operations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Location & details#
- This position is based in Omaha, Nebraska.
- The role follows a hybrid work schedule, requiring on-site work at the Aksarben Village office.
- Candidates must live within commuting distance of the office.
- The internship runs from Wednesday, May 26, 2027, through Friday, July 30, 2027.
