About the role#
As a Data Science Intern at Jewelers Mutual, you will work with the Product and Analytics team to analyze datasets and support business decisions. You will collaborate with data scientists and stakeholders to translate data into insights that influence product and pricing strategies. This is a full-time, paid internship based in Neenah, Wisconsin, for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Collect, clean, and organize data from internal and third-party sources.
- Support the analysis of datasets to identify trends and patterns.
- Help develop and test basic statistical models and algorithms under the guidance of senior staff.
- Prepare exhibits, summaries, and visualizations to communicate findings.
- Participate in meetings with business stakeholders to discuss goals and data approaches.
- Monitor product performance metrics.
- Document data sources, assumptions, and methodologies.
- Complete additional analytical projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
- Basic familiarity with Python, R, or Java for data manipulation.
- Coursework or exposure to statistical concepts like hypothesis testing, regression analysis, or probability theory.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team and manage multiple tasks with attention to detail.
- Experience with PowerPivot, SQL, Power BI, or other query and reporting tools is preferred.
- Prior experience with real-world datasets through coursework, projects, or internships.
- Familiarity with or interest in the P&C insurance industry.
