About the role#
The UX Research Intern supports the User Experience Research team at Jewelers Mutual Group. You will help the team understand customer behaviors, motivations, and pain points. Your work turns customer insights into recommendations that help designers and product managers build digital products. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Plan and run moderated and unmoderated usability tests using prototypes and live products, both in-lab and remotely.
- Conduct user interviews to identify customer workflows and pain points.
- Facilitate evaluative research methods including card sorting, tree testing, and surveys.
- Observe and document user interactions in real time, take detailed notes, and compile video highlights.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Create reports that summarize findings and recommendations.
- Present research results to designers, product managers, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the research team to refine test plans and protocols.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Human Factors, Cognitive Science, Design, or a related field.
- A graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029.
- Foundational knowledge of research methods like usability testing, interviewing, surveys, card sorting, and tree testing.
- Ability to analyze data and translate it into clear, actionable insights.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to varied audiences.
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- A collaborative mindset and curiosity about customer problems.
- Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in UX research or user testing is preferred.
- Familiarity with tools such as Figma, UserTesting, Maze, or Optimal Workshop is a plus.
- Experience with survey tools and basic data analysis in Excel is helpful.
- An interest in insurance, financial services, or e-commerce experiences.
