About the role#
As a Summer 2027 intern at Black & Veatch, you will join the Solar Power team. You will contribute to infrastructure projects while gaining hands-on experience at an employee-owned engineering and construction firm. This full-time role offers opportunities for mentorship and professional networking.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the development of electrical engineering deliverables including reports, drawings, specifications, and studies.
- Support engineering analyses, designs, and report production.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to schedule project deliverables.
- Organize and evaluate data using computer modeling to analyze systems.
- Manage project materials, references, and documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering program.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Knowledge of power systems, motors, transformers, renewable energy, power delivery, or three-phase power calculations.
- Understanding of engineering design principles and guides.
- Strong problem-solving skills, effective written communication, and the ability to build professional relationships.
- Ability to pass pre-employment requirements, including a background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.

- This position is based in Overland Park, Kansas.
- The role is on-site and full-time.
- This is a paid internship.
