About the role#
As a Civil Engineer Intern at Black & Veatch, you will contribute to infrastructure projects while gaining hands-on experience in site development. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams to solve complex design challenges and support the execution of projects from concept to completion.
What you'll do#
- Apply departmental design guides, engineering codes, and company policies to your daily tasks.
- Coordinate with project teams on tasks like grading, stormwater, erosion control, culvert, and pavement design.
- Participate in project meetings to resolve design challenges and meet client requirements.
- Perform research to recommend equipment or materials.
- Prepare basic engineering calculations using standard methods.
- Assist in developing project schedules, cost estimates, and deliverables.
- Use engineering software and digital delivery tools to support project outcomes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program with an emphasis in Structural, Environmental, Transportation, or Geotechnical engineering.
- A 3.0 GPA is preferred.
- A degree in Civil Engineering is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of engineering design principles, construction practices, and industry technology trends.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site in Overland Park, Kansas.
