About the role#
Bird Construction is seeking a Student Project Coordinator for a Winter 2027 internship. This position offers the chance to manage specific areas of responsibility on a real construction project with guidance from a supervisor and a technical mentor. You will work on-site in Mississauga, Ontario.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate drawings and manage specific scopes or trades.
- Review trade quotes, verify material quantities, hours, and rates.
- Participate in project meetings and conduct deficiency walks to update logs.
- Issue warranties and coordinate progress photos.
- Update field drawings and produce as-built drawings.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and verify site conditions against drawings.
- Supervise sub-trade work and coordinate their activities.
- Set up and maintain project record keeping.
- Layout site lines and grades using a total station.
- Create and update project schedules, including manual and graphical formats.
- Obtain scheduling information from sub-trades and monitor manpower productivity.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil, Mechanical, Structural, or Industrial Engineering program.
- Completion of at least one more semester of education following this internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships.
- A sense of urgency and commitment to achieving project goals.
- Ability to operate effectively in a changing environment.
- Current residency or a valid work permit for Canada.
- You must provide a current transcript with your application.
