About the role#
Bird Construction is hiring a Student Project Coordinator for a paid, full-time internship in Kelowna, British Columbia. This position is for the Winter 2027 term, with options for 8, 12, or 16-month placements starting in January 2027. You will work on-site, managing specific project areas with guidance from a supervisor and a technical mentor.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate drawings and manage specific scopes or trades.
- Review trade quotes to verify material quantities, hours, and rates.
- Participate in project meetings and conduct deficiency walks.
- Update deficiency logs and issue warranties.
- Take and coordinate progress photos.
- Update field drawings and produce as-built drawings.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and verify site conditions.
- Supervise sub-trade work and coordinate site activities.
- Set up and maintain project record keeping.
- Layout site lines and grades using a total station.
- Update and create manual and graphical project schedules.
- Obtain scheduling information from sub-trades and monitor manpower productivity.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or Construction program.
- Completion of at least one more semester of education following the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive relationships.
- A sense of urgency and commitment to achieving goals.
- Ability to operate in an environment where change happens frequently.
- Residency or a valid work permit to work for Bird Construction.
- A current transcript must be included with your application.
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical or drug and alcohol testing if required for specific client sites.
