About the role#
We are looking for a student to join our team for a co-op position starting in January 2027. This role is based in Mississauga, Ontario, and is designed to provide you with a business-relevant project where you can manage your own area of responsibility while receiving support from a supervisor and technical mentor.
What you'll do#
- Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to understand project scope.
- Conduct take-offs from project drawings and develop material and labor quantity estimates.
- Use estimating software to prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, and subcontractor quotes.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals by organizing and compiling relevant information.
- Collaborate with senior estimators and project managers to review and analyze bids for accuracy.
- Help maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and estimating resources.
- Support the team in tracking and reporting on project bids, opportunities, and market trends.
- Participate in departmental and project meetings to provide input on estimating matters.
- Stay current with industry trends, construction technologies, and best practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a relevant degree program such as Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Completion of at least one more semester of education following the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Ability to operate in an environment where change happens frequently.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- A sense of urgency and a commitment to achieving goals.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude and maintain professional relationships.
- Proof of residency or a valid work permit.
- A current transcript must be included with your application.
