About the role#
Reporting to the Director of BUILD, you will oversee career development and internship components for students pursuing a Certificate in Applied Studies. This role combines classroom instruction with program management to help students with intellectual disabilities discover their strengths and build career skills. As a staff member at Bethel University, you will foster a supportive environment while upholding the university's Christ-centered mission.
What you'll do#
- Teach up to 16 credits of career-focused coursework per year, including three in-person classes per semester.
- Develop and support student internship sites and assist students in preparing for integrated employment.
- Plan and execute internship fairs and manage vehicle scheduling for internship-related travel.
- Hire, train, and supervise student Job Mentors who provide on-site support to interns.
- Design and monitor Personalized Learning Plans for student advisees, including regular progress meetings and communication with guardians.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor's degree (a degree in a related field is preferred).
- At least 3 years of experience working with students with disabilities.
- Expertise regarding the characteristics of students with intellectual disabilities.
- Ability to plan and implement curriculum using Universal Design for Learning principles.
- Working knowledge of disability accommodations, supports, and community agencies focused on employment skills for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage student workers.
