Student Worker - Mayborn Event Host - BC

About the role#

The Mayborn Event Host supports the delivery of high-quality experiences for museum guests. This role involves assisting with birthday parties and various public and private events, ensuring that spaces are properly prepared and that events run seamlessly. This position requires a self-directed individual who can take ownership of event tasks and remain engaged throughout each shift.

What you'll do#

• Execute event setup and breakdown efficiently and with attention to detail.
• Serve as an on-site host for events, providing a welcoming and helpful presence for guests.
• Monitor event flow and proactively address needs or issues as they arise.
• Communicate clearly with staff, clients, and visitors throughout the event.
• Maintain clean, organized, and guest-ready spaces.
• Support a variety of event and hospitality tasks as assigned.

• Ability to demonstrate initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong sense of responsibility and follow-through.
• Comfort adapting to changing needs.
• Professional, friendly, and confident demeanor when interacting with guests.
• Detail-oriented approach with strong time management skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and solve problems effectively.
• Preference for students majoring in Communications, Business Administration, or Psychology.

• Location: Waco, Texas.
• Work Modality: On-site at the Mayborn Museum.
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Compensation: $10/hr.
• Schedule: 5-15 hours per week with flexible hours; weekend and evening availability is required.
