About the role#
The Mayborn Event Host supports the delivery of high-quality experiences for museum guests. This role involves assisting with birthday parties and a variety of public and private events. Hosts work independently to ensure event spaces are prepared, guests are supported, and operations run seamlessly. This position requires an engaged individual who can anticipate needs and take ownership of event success.
What you'll do#
- Execute event setup and breakdown efficiently and with attention to detail.
- Serve as an on-site host, providing a welcoming and helpful presence for guests.
- Monitor event flow and proactively address needs or issues as they arise.
- Communicate clearly with staff, clients, and visitors throughout the event.
- Maintain clean, organized, and guest-ready spaces.
- Support a variety of event and hospitality tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong sense of responsibility and follow-through.
- Ability to adapt to changing needs.
- Professional, friendly, and confident communication skills when interacting with guests.
- Detail-oriented approach with good time management skills.
- Ability to comply with University policies and maintain consistent attendance.
- Preferred majors include Communications, Business Administration, or Psychology.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Work Modality: On-site at the Mayborn Museum.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Compensation: $10 per hour.
- Schedule: 5-15 hours per week with flexible hours, including required availability on evenings and weekends.
