About the role#
The Mayborn Event Host helps deliver high-quality event experiences for museum guests. This role supports birthday parties and various public and private events. You will work independently to ensure spaces are prepared, guests are cared for, and events run well. This position requires a self-directed student who takes initiative and manages responsibilities without constant direction.
What you'll do#
- Execute event setup and breakdown with attention to detail.
- Serve as an on-site host, providing a welcoming presence for guests.
- Monitor event flow and address needs or issues as they arise.
- Communicate clearly with staff, clients, and visitors.
- Maintain clean, organized, and guest-ready spaces.
- Support various event and hospitality tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- A strong sense of responsibility and follow-through.
- Comfort adapting to changing needs.
- Professional, friendly, and confident interaction with guests.
- Detail-oriented approach with good time management skills.
- Ability to comply with university policies and maintain consistent attendance.
- Majors in Communications, Business Administration, or Psychology are relevant to this work.
Location & details#
- Location: Mayborn Museum, Waco, Texas.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Schedule: Flexible hours, 5-15 hours per week, with weekend and evening availability required.
- Status: Paid, part-time, on-site.
