Student Worker - Mayborn Event Host - BC

About the role#

The Mayborn Event Host supports the delivery of high-quality experiences for museum guests. This role involves assisting with birthday parties and a variety of public and private events. You will work independently to ensure event spaces are prepared, guests are supported, and operations run seamlessly. This position requires a self-directed individual who can anticipate needs and take ownership of event success.

What you'll do#

• Execute event setup and breakdown efficiently and with attention to detail.
• Serve as an on-site host, providing a welcoming presence for guests.
• Monitor event flow and proactively address needs or issues as they arise.
• Communicate clearly with staff, clients, and visitors.
• Maintain clean, organized, and guest-ready spaces.
• Support a variety of event and hospitality tasks as assigned.

• Strong sense of responsibility and follow-through.
• Comfort adapting to changing needs in the moment.
• Professional, friendly, and confident demeanor when interacting with guests.
• Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
• Effective problem-solving and communication skills.
• Currently enrolled student, ideally pursuing a major in Communications, Business Administration, or Psychology.

Location & details#

• Location: Mayborn Museum, Waco, Texas.
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Schedule: 5-15 hours per week with flexible hours; weekend and evening availability is required.
• Compensation: $10 per hour.
