About the role#
The Mayborn Event Host supports the delivery of high-quality experiences for museum guests. This role involves assisting with birthday parties and a variety of public and private events. You will work independently to ensure event spaces are prepared, guests are supported, and operations run seamlessly. This position requires a self-directed individual who can anticipate needs and take ownership of event success.
What you'll do#
- Execute event setup and breakdown efficiently and with attention to detail.
- Serve as an on-site host, providing a welcoming presence for guests.
- Monitor event flow and proactively address needs or issues as they arise.
- Communicate clearly with staff, clients, and visitors.
- Maintain clean, organized, and guest-ready spaces.
- Support a variety of event and hospitality tasks as assigned.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate initiative.
- Strong sense of responsibility and follow-through.
- Comfort adapting to changing needs in the moment.
- Professional, friendly, and confident demeanor when interacting with guests.
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
- Effective problem-solving and communication skills.
- Currently enrolled student, ideally pursuing a major in Communications, Business Administration, or Psychology.
Location & details#
- Location: Mayborn Museum, Waco, Texas.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Schedule: 5-15 hours per week with flexible hours; weekend and evening availability is required.
- Compensation: $10 per hour.
