About the role#
The Office of the Dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences is looking for student workers to serve as Event Ambassadors for the 2026-2027 academic year. You will act as a public face for the school, welcoming guests and supporting events across Grounds. This role requires a professional demeanor and a commitment to representing the university with courtesy.
What you'll do#
- Greet guests and provide a positive first impression.
- Support event registration, seating, room setup, and material distribution.
- Communicate with organizers, staff, and other students to keep operations running smoothly.
- Assist with event wrap-up, including material collection and venue cleanup.
- Guide tours of Pavilion II when requested by the Office of the Dean or Marketing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a UVA undergraduate student in good academic standing.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A reliable, punctual, and responsive work ethic.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A professional approach to representing the College.
- Prior experience in hospitality or customer service is helpful but not required.
- Familiarity with event tools like Paperless Post or Eventbrite is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: On-site in Charlottesville, VA, primarily at Pavilion II.
- Term: Fall 2026, Winter 2027, and Spring 2027.
- Schedule: Hours vary based on event needs, typically 1-4 hours per shift. The College hosts about 10 events per semester. Shifts are assigned in advance with consideration for your class schedule.
- Compensation: Student Assistants earn $17.50 per hour, while Student Managers earn $20.00 per hour.
