About the role#
This Co-Op position works with Sourcing, Supplier Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams. You will support supplier development, quality improvement, and new product launches at White River Marine Group. This role offers hands-on experience in evaluating supplier performance and participating in process improvement projects.
What you'll do#
- Assist with supplier evaluations, audits, and performance assessments.
- Investigate supplier quality issues and support corrective actions.
- Collect, analyze, and report on quality and performance metrics.
- Support the qualification and validation of new suppliers, materials, and components.
- Work with cross-functional teams to resolve quality concerns and improve manufacturability.
- Conduct root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects regarding quality, cost, and delivery.
- Review drawings, specifications, and test reports to ensure engineering compliance.
- Support incoming material inspections and product evaluations.
- Participate in supplier meetings, design reviews, and project team discussions.
- Maintain supplier scorecards and quality records.
- Travel to manufacturing facilities and supplier locations to observe production processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a four-year degree program for Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management.
- Junior or Senior level student status is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data using business tools.
- Knowledge of quality systems, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
- Attention to detail and an independent approach to work.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T concepts is preferred.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, or root cause analysis is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site role based in Springfield, Missouri.
- Work takes place in an office environment with potential time spent in manufacturing plants and local field locations.
- Physical requirements include regularly working on a computer and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
