About the role#
This summer internship is based at our headquarters in Bismarck, North Dakota. You will work with the GCM team to support the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of GIS and compliance systems. This role involves analyzing business processes, providing user support, and collaborating with IT professionals to enhance system functionality. The position runs from approximately May 17, 2027, through August 20, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Collect, store, and manage geospatial and compliance data.
- Provide technical support for GIS and compliance software, including troubleshooting issues for IT department users.
- Partner with IT teams, GIS specialists, and compliance officers on interdisciplinary projects.
- Assist with system patching, application upgrades, and the roll-out of new functionalities.
- Prepare training materials and support end-users.
- Research emerging technologies and apply best practices to optimize system performance.
- Attend meetings with business stakeholders to gather insights and provide feedback.
- Follow all safety, security, and procedural guidelines.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver license.
- You must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5.
- You are currently enrolled as a full-time student in a two-year or four-year Computer Science, Information Technology, or related program, or you have graduated from such a program within the past 12 months.
- Two-year students must have completed at least one year of study; four-year students must have completed at least two years.
- You must submit a transcript with your application.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is required.
- Preferred candidates have previous internship experience, relevant work experience, or additional certifications in their field of study.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time position located in Bismarck, North Dakota.
- This role is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection position, which may involve access to Bulk Electric System cyber assets.
- The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally work in environments involving dust, fumes, noise, or temperature extremes.
