About the role#
This summer internship provides support to the Transmission System Maintenance team in Huron, South Dakota. You will work alongside system protection technicians, substation electricians, and telecom technicians. This is a full-time, paid position running from approximately May 17, 2027, through August 20, 2027. This role is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection position, which may involve access to Bulk Electric System cyber assets.
What you'll do#
- File prints at substation and shop locations.
- Manage and file test records.
- Assist with relay testing.
- Support NERC Protection and Control testing.
- Help with inspections, repairs, and testing of substation and telecom equipment.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver license.
- You are currently enrolled as a full-time student in a two-year Electronic or Electrical Technology program, have completed at least two semesters, or are a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
- You may also qualify if you are enrolled in or recently completed a related certificate program.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 is required.
- You must provide a transcript when you apply.
- Previous internship experience or relevant coursework is preferred.
- The role requires physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and working at heights up to 50 feet in various environmental conditions.
