About the role#
This summer internship offers hands-on experience at the Dakota Gasification Company in Beulah, North Dakota. You will work alongside Vehicle Maintenance Technicians to support the repair and upkeep of plant mobile equipment. This is a full-time, paid position scheduled from May 17, 2027, through August 20, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on plant vehicles and mobile equipment.
- Conduct general shop mechanic tasks on gas and diesel automobiles, forklifts, manlifts, and dump trucks.
- Handle specific repairs including tires, brakes, windows, doors, heating and cooling systems, oil changes, and drive trains.
- Address both electrical and mechanical issues as they arise.
- Assist with the setup, participation, and cleanup for the annual Family Night event.
- Work in an environment that requires physical tasks like lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing, and using various shop tools.
What you'll need#
- You must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver license.
- Enrollment as a full-time student in an automotive or diesel mechanic program with your freshman year completed, or completion of such a program within the last 12 months.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and follow verbal or written instructions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Preferred: Previous internship experience or additional coursework in your field of study.
