About the role#
This internship offers hands-on experience within Baird’s Global Investment Banking or Private Wealth Management teams. You will work alongside data professionals to transform complex information into insights that support business strategy and decision-making. The role involves a mix of analytics, reporting, and data governance tasks in a financial services environment.
What you'll do#
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify business needs and translate them into scalable BI solutions.
- Build data solutions and visualizations using SQL, Python, and Power BI.
- Collaborate with business partners to understand how data impacts decisions at Baird.
- Contribute to data governance, documentation, and quality assurance to ensure reporting accuracy.
- Support business users through training, guidance, and self-service reporting assistance.
- Use AI-assisted tools responsibly to improve productivity and analytics workflows.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, computer engineering, business administration, or a related field.
- Anticipated graduation date of May 2028 or later with a strong academic record.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, XLOOKUP, and data cleanup.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and building reports in Power BI Desktop with foundational DAX.
- Familiarity with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouse platforms.
- Understanding of data modeling concepts, such as fact and dimension tables.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Exposure to data governance best practices.
- Knowledge of financial markets is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
- Term: Summer 2027 start.
- Modality: Hybrid, with 3 to 4 days per week in the office.
- Employment: Paid, part-time position. You must be able to work full-time hours during the summer and part-time hours during the school year.
