About the role#
This graduate internship within the HCI and Visualization research group focuses on exploring new technology in human-computer interaction and data visualization. You will work with mentors to define and drive a research project from conception through implementation and experimental validation. This position is based on-site in Toronto.
What you'll do#
- Support research and design by building software prototypes.
- Conduct literature reviews and gather requirements.
- Develop algorithms to test and explore new concepts.
- Run usability, ethnographic, and heuristic studies along with task analyses and structured interviews.
- Measure human performance and cognitive limitations related to technology interaction.
- Evaluate findings to make recommendations for products and business impact.
- Author a full research paper and produce a research video.
- Present your results to internal and external audiences.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program in Computer Science or a related field, with a specialization in Human-Computer Interaction.
- At least one academic term remaining after the internship concludes.
- Demonstrated expertise in interactive technologies, supported by peer-reviewed publications.
- Strong technical skills in building software prototypes.
- Ability to write clear and correct technical material.
- Experience working effectively within a team and communicating across groups.
